Study Abroad Office Scholarship

Study Abroad Scholarship Information

In recognition of 2006 having been designated by the US Congress as the Year of Study Abroad and to support student efforts to gain international experience, OSU has allocated an annual scholarship fund for students intending to engage in credit bearing activities abroad. The University is committed to assisting students to gain global competence and the ability to interact with persons of diverse backgrounds both at home and abroad.

Award Amounts

Approximately 60 scholarships will be awarded. The SAO Scholarships will be divided among the different types of programs on a percentage basis depending on the duration of the activity abroad. The distribution is designed to assist as many students as possible. Students may receive the SAO Scholarship one time only.

SAO Scholarships will be awarded to students intending to study abroad for an academic year, one semester, or for a shorter term from two to nine weeks.

Scholarship funds are allotted in the following manner:

  • $1,000 for academic year programs;
  • $750 for semester long programs;
  • $500 for short term programs, including inter-session, spring break, and summer.

Eligibility

The SAO Scholarship will be available on a first-come-first-served basis to students enrolled at OSU who will receive academic credit for studies or research abroad. Both undergraduate and graduate students are eligible to apply.

Recipients must prove intent to engage in a credit-bearing activity abroad by providing either a completed application for a study abroad program or proof of enrollment in research or independent study credits to be conducted abroad.

To be considered for the SAO Scholarship, applicants must:

  1. Be enrolled at Oklahoma State University
  2. Submit a completed Study Abroad Office Scholarship Application available on the Study Abroad website or from the Study Abroad Office with all supporting documents by 5:00 p.m. on the deadline date
