Students benefit greatly from participation in study abroad programs through
both educational and personal development benefits. The programs are an
excellent complement to one's domestic study in ways such as the following:
- Sets you apart from those that have not participated in study abroad
- Employers welcome signs of acceptance of challenges
- Communication skills are improved as you listen and observe
- Creativity and one's knowledge base are improved as you experience diversity
of ideas and life styles
- Teaches you the value of diversity and an understanding of cultural
differences
- Gives you a broader view of trade and world events
- Adventure, excitement, and fun
There are many opportunities for
you to broaden your education through study in other countries. These programs
differ in length, costs, and host country. Give serious attention to the program
that best matches your educational interests.

The Center for Executive and Professional Development
provides a number of short-term programs for Spears School of
Business students and those from other institutions. Courses within these
programs are designed specifically for the setting within which the study abroad
activity is to take place. For example, a program to London provides courses
that address the European Union while a program to Mexico addresses Latin
America trade. Further, some programs include in-country stays of 3-4 weeks
while other programs include on-campus class work followed by 8-10 days of
foreign travel. All courses are taught by Spears School faculty and directly apply to the
SSB degree programs.
