Oklahoma State University Spears School of Business faculty have offered many seminars over the years for companies in Houston. We are pleased to be able to offer “public” programs in the Houston area in cooperation with Anadarko Petroleum Corporation. These seminars are open to other companies and we invite you to join us. These programs are designed specifically for technical managers, where participants attending will receive up-to-date and relevant, practical information which can be applied in their workplace the next day. These sessions may also be offered on-site at your organization and we hope that you will send employees to attend these programs which address critical issues in today’s changing technical management environment, i.e. developing emotional intelligence, strengthening employee performance, overseeing generations at work, leading change, and managing confrontations.

Managing Confrontations

Thursday, May 30, 2013 / 9:00 A.M. – 4:00 P.M.

Confrontations comprise the very foundations of accountability, and when they are handled poorly, they result in failed promises, missed expectations, lack of accountability, and bad behavior. Learn how to effectively manage confrontation and make rapid and substantial improvements in individual, team, and organizational results. This seminar teaches a straightforward step-by-step process for identifying and resolving performance gaps, strengthening accountability, eliminating inconsistency and reducing resentment. Each person knows someone who has violated expectations, broken promises, or performed poorly. Indeed, most organizational failures, team disasters, and family discord are the natural result of chronic problems people have either failed to confront or confronted poorly.

Built upon years of managerial research, this seminar in crucial confrontations directly addresses gaps between expectations and performance with a model that ensures individual and team effectiveness. You will learn how to approach confrontations in a different and more encouraging way. You will learn to hold someone accountable face-to-face by making a clear and direct connection between action and consequences. Additionally, you will learn to master performance discussions, motivate without using power and move to action.

FEE: $350 per person
