From 2004, OSU has partnered with SAS, a leading provider of business analytics software, to offer very successful datamining and business analytics certificate programs. A primary goal of this conference is to link OSU’s data mining and business analytics certificate programs and students who are trained in analytics using SAS with members of the local and regional business community. SAS Analytics Day will introduce our certificate programs to businesses and allow students and businesses to begin building their professional network.

Armistead W. Sapp is Senior Vice President and leads the software research and development divisions and the P-20 division at SAS Institute’s world headquarters in Cary, NC. Sapp heads the P-20 division which houses both product development and sales for the education market in the United States. In addition to supporting data-driven decision making for administration, teaching and learning, the division develops innovative products like SAS® Curriculum Pathways®…Web-based curriculum resources for grades 6-14. This division is also responsible for education-oriented mobile applications, such as SAS® Flash Cards. Armistead is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he studied philosophy and history. He has also had advance studies in immunology, physics and biochemistry.
Kerrie Adams is a Director of Customer Analytics at Walmart. She drives the Member communications for Sam’s Club both in targeting as well as in measuring the effectiveness of all Member and prospect communications. She has played an integral role in the standardization of metrics and automation of the campaign analytics in addition to driving member insights for the business. She has previously run an analytics department for a holistic web based software tool providing retailers and restaurants support for their facility operations; reporting market share, patient behavior, and forecasting volume for pharmaceutical clients; and has been a researcher for a Research and Development company. Kerrie has a Masters of Applied Statistics from The Ohio State University with an undergraduate degree from Otterbein College in Mathematics. She has been using SAS software to drive analytics and insights for over 15 years.
Dr. Goutam Chakraborty earned his B.Tech (Honors) in Mechanical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, PGCGM from the Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta, M.S in Statistics and a Ph.D. in Marketing from the University of Iowa. He has held managerial positions with a subsidiary of Union Carbide, USA, and with a subsidiary of British American Tobacco, UK. He is currently a professor of marketing at Oklahoma State University and manages a very successful Data Mining Certificate Program in partnership with SAS. Chakraborty has presented numerous programs and workshops to executives, educators, and research professionals in the U.S., Europe, Singapore, Hong Kong, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Shanghai, Bangkok and India. His research has been published in many scholarly journals such as the Journal of Interactive Marketing, Journal of Advertising Research, Journal of Advertising, Journal of Business Research, Industrial Marketing Management, etc. He has co-authored the book Contemporary Database Marketing. He has chaired several national conferences including the Direct Marketing Educator’s Conference and the M2007 Data Mining Conference.
Prashant Pai is the Director of Risk Consulting within Global Professional Services at SAS Institute Inc. He is responsible for ensuring successful implementations of all SAS Risk products and solutions. Pai’s organization works closely with other SAS divisions such as Research and Development, Technical Support, Sales, Marketing and Customer Loyalty to provide complete customer satisfaction. Reflective of SAS’ growth and leadership as a risk platform vendor, Pai’s organization has seen tremendous growth in revenue and resources year after year. He obtained his B.S. in Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay, his M.S. in Engineering and Computer Science from North Carolina State University, and was previously Research Faculty at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He is a member of risk professional organizations such as GARP and PRMIA.
Sterling Price is Director of Customer Analytics for Global Customer Insights and Analytics at Walmart. He leads a team of analysts dedicated to uncovering customer insights that drive business value and influence strategic and tactical decisions. He has worked in various areas during a 17-year career with Walmart, including Systems Development, Merchandise Flow, Store Innovations, U.S. Strategy, and Customer Insights. Sterling has a B.S. in Computer Information Systems and Quantitative Analysis from the Walton School of Business at the University of Arkansas.
Vicky Svidenko is Director of Applied Statistical Engineering (ASE), leading a team within the Xbox Devices organization of Microsoft. She delivers expert-level support to the hardware engineering community in design of experiments, statistical analysis and visualization of results, and predictive modeling and simulation, as well as the use of field telemetry data to ensure Xbox products work by design and delight customers. Prior to Microsoft, Vicky held a variety of engineering roles in the communications, semiconductor and solar industries. She has an ongoing relationship with analytics and its various metamorphoses. Some of her favorite topics are yield management, process monitoring, image and signal processing, experiment design, statistical analysis, data manipulation and visualization, and advanced computational techniques.
Jiawen Liu is working as a SAS Consultant at Qualex Consulting Services, Inc. She earned a master’s degree in Management Information Systems and SAS and OSU Data Mining Certificate from Oklahoma State University. Jiawen’s expertise includes Customer Intelligence, Campaign Management, Social Media Analytics, Text Analytics, and Predictive Modeling. Prior to graduation, she interned as a Social Media Analyst at WCG, a W2O Group company. She has several papers and posters which have been accepted and presented at SAS Global Forums. This March, Jiawen is going to present her work on online content fetching using SAS at SAS Global Forum, Washington, DC.
Garima Sahney is working at Wal-Mart as Senior Statistical Analyst for the Information Systems Division. Sahney’s areas of focus are predictive modeling for personalized member level campaigns for Sam’s Club, and optimizing store performance for Wal-Mart by estimating and reporting Shrink and market analytics. She graduated with a Master’s in Management Information Systems from Oklahoma State University with the SAS and OSU Data Mining Certificate. She previously worked at Atos as a software engineer. She has her Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology from University of Pune, India.
Mantosh Kumar Sarkar is an Advanced Analytics Consultant at Verizon with 3+ years of experience in data-mining and predictive analytics. He won Oklahoma State University’s Outstanding Data-mining Graduate Student 2013 award during his Master’s degree in Management Information Systems with core emphasis on Data-mining. Mantosh is also the 2013 winner of SAS Student Ambassador Award for his publication titled “Opinion Mining and Geo-Positioning of Textual Feedback from Professional Drivers.” He is SAS certified Predictive Modeler using SAS Enterprise Miner and Programmer using SAS 9.
Hari Hara Sudhan is currently working with Kavi Associates as a Senior Business Analytics Consultant. Hari previously worked with Infosys Technologies Ltd as a Senior Systems engineer. He is a graduate from Spears School of Business with a major in Management Information Systems. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science Engineering from India. He is also a Certified Base Programmer for SAS 9, Certified Predictive Modeler using SAS Enterprise Miner 6.1. His paper on analyzing sentiments expressed in Walmart’s gender discrimination lawsuit verdict using Tweets won the Best Contributed paper in 2012 SAS Global Forum and was one of the Top 6 posters in the Analytics 2011 conference.
