LeadershipSource Seminars

November 8, 2007
2:30-4:30 p.m.

Seminar:
Team Building

Instructor:
Dr. Raj Basu

Course Description: High-performance teams don't just happen. They have to be carefully built over time and well-managed. A key to strong, performance-oriented teams is building strong interpersonal relationships prior to the formation of teams. This session covers issues across the life span of a team, from deciding when to use teams, to understanding their stages of development, to moving them toward high performance. Special attention will be made to the various challenges teams face in moving toward high performance (conflict, turning individuals into team players, motivation problems, team decision-making problems, etc.) and to ways that teams can successfully navigate these obstacles.

February 28, 2008
2:30-4:30 p.m.

Seminar: Decision Making and Critical Thinking
Instructor:
Dr. Robert Dooley

Course Description: This program focuses on the manager's job of decision making. Managers are constantly faced with difficult choices that affect the overall success of the organization. In fact, the success of your organization and your career hinges on your decision-making skill. It is important that decisions are not influenced by decision-making pitfalls such as individual biases, irrational tendencies, and poor team decision-making processes. You will use a case study to apply the principles learned and explore the affect of organizational context on individual and team decision making.

March 27, 2008
2:30-4:30 p.m.

Seminar: Managing in a Competitive Environment
Instructor:
Dr. Lee Manzer

Course Description: Business is often viewed as a zero-sum game: in order for someone to win, someone else must lose. In today's highly competitive environment, such thinking often leads to escalating competition and lose-lose results. This session introduces participants to a new strategic mindset that encourages thinking about business as both cooperation and competition.

  • LeadershipSource Seminars are open to the public.
  • Certificates for 0.2 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) per seminar are available upon request.
